Songs to listen to... IF YOU WANT A SPEEDING TICKET Vols. 3 - 9
Credit for this excellent idea goes to Michael Celly, a Weblogs, Inc. programmer who told us that back in 1999 he and his friend Jon Stone produced a mix CD called Songs to listen to... IF YOU WANT A SPEEDING TICKET, Vol. 2. We're not sure what happened to Vol. 1, but Vol. 2 is venerable cornucopia of late Nineties rock (see track list after jump) that would make any right foot feel heavy. The Autoblog staff was suddenly bit by the music bug, so after the jump you'll find our collection of Songs to listen to... IF YOU WANT A SPEEDING TICKET, Vols. 3 – 8. Each list is our own personal mix tape of tunes, any song of which raises our chances of being handed a speeding ticket by a factor of 10.Compiling these lists has been enlightening, as each volume says a lot about its author (four Def Leppard picks, Joel? Really?). Because I had never heard of 90 percent of the tracks my fellow bloggers chose, we decided to add sample links for nearly every one so you can click and hear for yourself what gets our motors running. We hope you submit your own Volume of Songs to listen to... IF YOU WANT A SPEEDING TICKET in the comments. Enjoy...

I have a really good driving collection on my iPod. I run a radio show at my college and autox and race in SCCA, so naturally this sort of playlist is my specialty. Some of the songs are hardcore, some are more punk, some are techno-ish, some are pop and some are indie. So there is a wide array here.
Neurosonic-So Many People
Skindred-Nobody (Bruises is also a good song for driving)
Kasabian-Processed Beats
Gallows-In the Belly of a Shark
Transplants-Madness
Generation X-Ready Steady Go
Joy Division- No Love Lost (or Warsaw)
The Dykeenies- Waiting for Go
Ministry - Theives
The Misfits - Horror Business
Agent Orange-Blood Stains (also titled Speed Kills in some re-mixes)
Eve 6-Anytime
Oh and can't forget Rage Against the Machine.
Let me know if you like these and want me to email you my complete driving playlist. driver218@live.com

The two best night driving songs from the worst named band of the 70's, Golden Earrings Radar Love and Twilight Zone. Good songs by themselves but tailor made for speeding.

Metallica - Fuel or Master of Puppets
Also, anything Slayer.

1. I think Slayer is more like you want to crash your car and run over people.

Personally, "Bad Habit" by The Offspring should be top 3, not #8. That song just screams pedal to the metal and road rage...

What about Sammy Haggar, I Can't Drive 55? Ozzy Osbourne, Flying High Again? They must be on Vol. 1.

I agree with Road Rage on Sammy Haggar. I'd like to see some AC/DC on the list too, such as Shakin', Highway to Hell (obvious), and Back in Black. Those are good tunes for speeding. Also, you might want to have "Bad Boys" playing on your stereo when the officer comes to your window ... maybe not.

Easy - Blur Song 2. If one has ever seen the BMW Film Star then they know that Song 2 is THE fast driving song. Especially for Bimmer owners.

Definitely "Song 2" by Blur. This song kicks ass in the BMW M5 video in the BMW's "The Hire" film series. Every time I hear it, I can't help thinking about Clive Owen tearing up an M5 with Madonna being tossed around like a ragdoll in the back seat. Good stuff.

o_fizzle,
Guy Ritchie hasn't done much but he did immortalize that song for BMW owners.
